Starting Position

Set the barbell at the front of the shoulders and take a controlled forward lunge position.

How To Perform The Exercise

Push forcefully through the lead foot as you rise from the lunge and drive the bar overhead. Stabilize at the top, then lower it to the front rack and reset.

Written Family Variation: 6.41 Power Press

Start from the lunge with the bar in the front rack. Use an explosive push-off and overhead press with a flight phase, then land on both feet. Stabilize the landing and overhead load before lowering and resetting. Flight and the two-foot landing distinguish 6.41 from the standing recovery in 6.40. The current 6.40 clip does not verify this flight-and-landing version.

Coaching Points

Coordinate the leg push-off with the overhead drive. The video demonstrates one lead leg; repeat the exercise with the other leg leading.
