Second Edition · Chapter 3 Assessment · Original Test 4.18

Assesses local lower-body anaerobic endurance on each leg.

Test Demonstration

Watch the movement, then follow the book’s full procedure and measurement instructions for a formal assessment.

Equipment

Adjustable box, scale, tape measure, one rubber agility ring and stopwatch.

Test Procedure

Set the box to make a 90° knee angle with one foot on top and the other on the floor. Place a ring at the ground-contact point. Extend the box-supported leg, then return the floor foot to the ring. Keep the supported foot on the box during the assessed repetitions. Count complete repetitions for 60 seconds and test each leg separately.

Result And Scoring

Record body mass, box height, ring placement, tested-leg order and recovery between sides. The source does not fix leg order or between-leg recovery; define both before testing. Compare complete repetitions under matching conditions rather than treating mass × estimated travel ÷ time as force output.

Record box height and complete repetitions separately for right and left legs; compare the two sides under the same test conditions.

Video Demonstration Note

The video shows the box and ring with a brief series of step-ups. It does not document two full 60-second leg trials.

Training Connections

The book lists High Knee Pulls, Straight Leg Kicks and Single Leg RDL & Quad Stretch as preparation. Return to the assessment overview for related demonstrations.
