How To Perform The Stretch

Set the feet wider than the shoulders with the toes slightly turned out. Lower into a deep squat, bring the palms together, and place the elbows inside the knees. Keep the spine and head neutral and look ahead. The book describes holding the open position for 10 seconds before pressing the knees inward.

Technique Cue

Do not round the upper back or look down to gain depth. The video demonstrates the open squat position with a short hold.

Targeted Muscles And Timing

Target: Glutes and hip adductors. Source timing: The 2015 book’s execution description says to hold for 10 seconds before pressing the knees inward, while its key factors specify a 45-second hold. These are different cues; the short video does not establish a complete timed sequence. Use a comfortable range without bouncing.
