Technique Cue

Maintain a neutral spine and head position and keep the arms straight and the bar controlled overhead.

Book Technique And Progression

Book difficulty: 3 (the book’s exercise rating). Check the prerequisites and use loading suited to your technique and training history.

Keep the bar overhead with arms extended while bending through the hips and knees, then stand without losing the overhead position. Retain whole-foot support and select depth from controlled execution. Do not force pressure entirely onto the heels. Rehearse overhead support and the squat separately when either is unresolved.
