The video shows the complete movement with a compact demonstration.

How To Perform The Exercise

Anchor the band at chest height. Raise the upper arms out to the sides to about shoulder height, bend the elbows and begin with the hands pointing upward. Rotate at the shoulders until the hands point forward, then return under control.

Technique Cue

Rotation occurs at the shoulder while the elbow stays bent in its stated position. The hand follows the upper-arm rotation; twisting the forearm is a different movement.

Keep the elbows near shoulder height and avoid bending the trunk to move the band.

Book Technique And Progression

Book difficulty: 2 (the book’s exercise rating). Check the prerequisites and use loading suited to your technique and training history.

With the band at chest height and the shoulders abducted to about 90 degrees, rotate the forearms forward while keeping the torso and head neutral.
