How To Perform The Exercise
Start with the bar above the knees. Extend the hips rapidly and draw the bar upward close to the torso, then move under it and receive it across the front of the shoulders with a controlled knee and hip bend above parallel, then stand. Match receiving depth to the selected load and your ability to maintain the front rack.
Technique Cue
Keep the bar close during the pull and establish the front rack before standing. Receive the bar across the front of the shoulders with the elbows forward; avoid catching it only in the hands.
Book Technique And Progression
Book difficulty: 3 (the book’s exercise rating). Choose a load suited to your experience and master the component movements first.
Both clean variants use knee and hip flexion to receive the bar. Here, deliberately move farther under the bar while keeping the receiving position above parallel; do not force a fixed 90-degree knee angle.
