Starting Position

Stand in an athletic stance with a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.

How To Perform The Exercise

With the left leg leading, rotate and reach the dumbbells toward the left hip. Recover standing before a separate overhead press, then lower and reset. Repeat the same lead with a right-hip reach, and practise both reach directions with the right leg leading. This is the written 6.68 sequence.

Written Family Variation: 6.67 Reach TO Press

Use the same lead-leg and two-direction reach arrangement, but connect the push-off and upward recovery with the overhead press. The press occurs during recovery rather than after standing. The current 6.68 video does not establish that changed timing.

Written Family Variation: 6.69 Alternating Reach TO Press

Use the coupled recovery-and-press timing with the four-task order: left lead/left reach; right lead/right reach; left lead/right reach; right lead/left reach. Recover standing and reset the dumbbells between repetitions. The current video does not verify this complete alternating sequence.

Book Setup And Video Note

The footage starts the overhead press during the upward recovery, closer to the coupled timing of 6.67. For the written 6.68 “Then” task, first recover standing and then perform a separate overhead press. The clip shows one reach direction with each lead leg; it does not verify both reach directions on each side or the complete 6.69 sequence.
